T2 Center using Clickers to assess learning

At our three recent sessions of All About Asphalt, more than 100 participants had the opportunity to use Clickers (audience response devices) to answer questions relating to proper asphalt placement techniques and maintenance practices. The Clickers made the  pre and post test very interactive and fun.

Here is how they work:  The instructor asks a question using a PowerPoint presentation and the audience uses the clickers to respond with the appropriate answer.  At the end of the polling session, the system shows a graph illustrating the number of participants that chose each answer.  Gathering this important information in real time allows the instructor to assess how well the audience is receiving the information; making it possible to adjust the course content to meet the needs of each particular group.

We are currently working to integrate the new technology into the majority of our courses so stay tuned – you will be seeing more of them soon!
