This year’s motto is WORK ZONE SPEEDING: A COSTLY MISTAKE.
During a week in April each year, special programs and activities across the country focus on drawing attention to staying safe in work zones. This year the state of Washington will host the national kick-off program on Tuesday, April 8, in Seattle. Here in Connecticut, the state program will commence on Monday, April 7 with a 10:30 a.m. press conference at CTDOT headquarters in Newington. Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman is the featured guest and the Technology Transfer Center will honor the winners of the 2014 Roadway Safety Poster Contest for Children.
The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) has produced a Public Service Announcement video with this year’s theme that’s designed to help motorist consider the potential monetary and human costs of speeding, especially during the busy roadway construction season. The public is encouraged to watch the PSA and share the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wpZKhgTtCXw
Prevention is everyone’s responsibility.
